Your enquiry will then go to our inhouse project team who will bring engineering, electrical, aesthetic, finishing and project management skills to the job.

75 years ago, Chelsom started selling antique lighting sourced from the finest English country house sales or the flea markets of Paris. That wealth of knowledge allows us to understand the historical relevance of your lighting, the period when it was first built, it’s journey through decades of different light sources and, above all, the need to maintain and care for its provenance. Whilst following client’s guidelines at all times, our policy is not to over-restore, but to maintain original patina and detailing as much as possible.

In most cases, our team will visit site to understand more fully the period context of the lighting and its location within the building. We will ensure we understand the new light level requirements, the power supplies and dimming options, the interior décor in general and any damage which may need repairing or replacing. We will also check site accessibility and any scaffold/tower requirements for takedown or re-install.

Our team will arrive in our own vehicles with all necessary equipment to disassemble and take down light fittings, carefully label and pack and transport back to our Head Office for closer examination and storage prior to commencing restoration work. At that time we will supply a full report on the products and a detailed quotation.

Our long standing restoration team can carry out all types of work from upgrading wiring and technology to adding dimming controls, refinishing metal, glass or wood, replacing missing components such as crystal or fabric shades, cleaning and restoring all materials, manufacturing replica parts and certifying products to meet building regulations. In most cases, power consumption will be reduced by up to 90%.

Fully finished light fittings will be safely packed and returned to site using our own transport. If required we will supply a team to reassemble on site and install the refurbished lighting in conjunction with your onsite electrical contractors. We will commission the lighting and ensure perfect function.
